The children are nestled, all snug in their beds, while visions of herringbone dance through my head. I am currently working on the design for a modern provincial new construction and want to share with you the beauty of harringbone and chevron. Both the harringbone and chevron patterns date back to pre-Egyptian design. Various cultures have used the patterns for centuries in textiles, flooring, and furniture construction. For the purpose of this project, however, I am focusing on putting a modern twist on classical french harringbone and chevron floor and wall design. I am planning on using harringbone and chevron throughout the home to add texture and detail to accent walls and flooring.
